Chapter Leader Focus - Makrizia Fabio

Makrizia Fabio is a commercial real estate professional with specialized expertise in portfolio and asset management who is passionate about building community. In her role as Portfolio Manager at Presidio Bay Ventures she finds great satisfaction in her work creating and managing innovative spaces for people to enjoy that change the landscape of their communities. “I have continually volunteered my time to help my community through tutoring children and feeding the hungry,” she said. “The recent pandemic has highlighted our human desire for fellowship, and it has increased my commitment to help create places that enhance the community.”

The development presently fueling Fabio’s passion is Springline, a transit-oriented, mixed-use development located adjacent to downtown Menlo Park and the Caltrain station. The project includes two 100,000 square foot state-of-the-art Class A office buildings, 183 apartments, 29,000 square feet of exclusive retail and dining, a dual-level subterranean parking garage with 942 parking spaces, as well as substantial public outdoor space tailormade for activated experiences, gatherings, and events for both tenants and the community at large. “I find this project so exciting because of the opportunity we have to re-shape the city of Menlo Park,” she said. “Springline will become the heartbeat of downtown and will draw residents and visitors in with a magnetic urban energy, walkability, and weekend respite.”

Fabio credits NAIOP SFBA with helping accelerate her career and ultimately preparing her for her current position. She participated in the Young Professionals Program (YPG) in 2017-2018 and became actively involved in the Chapter’s Leadership immediately after as a member of the YPG Alumni committee. In 2021, she joined the Sponsorship Committee as Co-Chair. “Naturally, what I value most about NAIOP is the strong sense of community,” she said. “This organization has an amazing ability to come together for any cause and I have built an incredible network of colleagues and close friends.”

In terms of advice for emerging professionals, Fabio advises them to embrace as many experiences as possible, the good and the bad. “Be a sponge and soak it all up.” she said. “All of those moments will lead up to your becoming a better person and leader in our community. Of course, I also recommend participating in the YPG program too!”

On the personal front, Fabio was born and raised in San Francisco and is close with her family who still live in the City. In her spare time, she enjoys planning her next adventure. “My biggest personal passion is traveling,” she said. “I love learning about other cultures and experiencing as much as I can from traveling all over the US and internationally.”
