President’s Message

After a decade of involvement in the NAIOP SFBA chapter, I am honored to be the president for 2023. The chapter has never been stronger thanks to the hard work of many past leaders, and I am excited to build on that success.

On behalf of the Board and the entire leadership team I want to share our vision statement and give you some insight into our priorities for the year.

Our vision is to be a trusted source and affiliation for real estate professionals, and more specifically:

  • An effective advocate for commercial real estate policies
  • A collaborative and educational event and content provider
  • A financially sound organization
  • A diverse and well-connected network
  • A resource for career development, providing education opportunities for all career stages

My top priority for 2023 is to proactively help the efforts to re-vitalize downtown San Francisco. We have a real opportunity to be a part of re-shaping our city following the pandemic and NAIOP will be an active leader in the process. After years of city leaders taking economic growth for granted, and even villainizing success to a certain degree, we’re at a pivotal moment where the winds are shifting in local politics and city leaders acknowledge they must work together with the business community to bring the city back.

With a member base of over 700 professionals and 266 companies who are invested in San Francisco in some shape or form, we take seriously our obligation to actively help strengthen the city as it recovers. We’ve created a task force with the mission of improving downtown San Francisco in ways that benefit (directly or indirectly) the local commercial real estate industry and have identified the following areas of focus for how we believe we can make the biggest impact as a volunteer organization.

  • Organize and rally the commercial real estate community
  • Effectively communicate and build awareness about the issues/solutions
  • Proactively draft legislation with local politicians
  • Create positive change at the street level through “grassroots” efforts

If you have ideas for us or are interested in learning more about the task force, I encourage you to reach out and get involved!

Finally, I would like to thank our sponsors, members, and volunteers who are instrumental in the success of the chapter. We are committed to driving value and delivering on our key pillars – networking, education, and legislative action. Headwinds can create opportunities, and we believe NAIOP will be able to provide superior value in the challenging economic environment ahead.

Wishing you happiness and success in 2023!

Colby Wick
