OPENING REMARKS

Luis Belmonte is a founding partner of Seven Hills Properties. Previously, Luis was Executive Vice President and among the founders of AMB Property Corporation (now Prologis), where he ran the development program ($250 million per year) and supervised management of assets (50 million sf) in the Western United States. During his tenure at AMB, he spearheaded the company’s efforts to enter the Mexican market and also developed the company’s headquarters on the San Francisco waterfront. Prior to his tenure at AMB, Luis was a partner with Lincoln Property Company, responsible for industrial development projects in Northern California. Over the course of 16 years, he developed 18 million square feet of industrial buildings. Luis spent three years on active duty with the U.S. Navy, during which time he rode a destroyer escort on coastal patrol in Vietnam and spent 13 months as the Naval Gunfire Liaison Officer, Fire Support Coordinator, and forward observer with the First Marine Regiment. A graduate of the University of Santa Clara with a Bachelor of Arts degree (cum laude), Luis also pursued graduate studies in Political Science at the University of Chicago and the University of California at Berkeley. Luis is a member of the Urban Land Institute and past chair of one of the organization’s Industrial and Office Park Councils, and a past president of the San Francisco chapter of NAIOP. In addition to industry involvement, Luis served as a board member for Boys Hope Girls Hope San Francisco for 20 years and was twice Board Chair of Ohlhoff Recovery Systems.  He is the author of Get Rich Slowly: Invest in Real Estate and Real Estate 101.

Jordan Angel, Moderator
Senior Managing Director / Silicon Valley Office Co-Head JLL Capital Markets
Jordan is a senior managing director and co-head of the Silicon Valley office of JLL Capital Markets, Americas. He joined JLL as part of the HFF acquisition and has more than 15 years of commercial real estate experience. He focuses primarily on debt and equity placement transactions throughout the western United States. Jordan started at HFF in March 2014. Prior to joining, he worked most recently as an executive director at Barry Slatt Mortgage Company. He has secured billions of dollars in debt and equity for office, industrial, multi-housing, retail, NNN, mixed-use and other commercial property types.

Collin “C.J.” Karthauser
Managing Director, Deutsche Bank
Collin “C.J.” Karthauser is a Managing Director at Deutsche Bank where he heads the CRE debt capital markets office in San Francisco.  Mr. Karthauser has been with Deutsche Bank since 2014 and works across all major property types for both CMBS and balance sheet bridge execution.  Prior to Deutsche Bank, Mr. Karthauser worked in the Real Estate Capital Markets group at Wells Fargo.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Occidental College and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.  In his free time, he enjoys Air Monarch shoes and Journey.

Steve Lieske
Real Estate Finance Partner, Allen Matkins
Steve is a partner in the San Francisco office whose practice focuses on real estate finance and capital markets. Steve is skilled in the full range of real estate financing and related transactions. Steve represents national real estate lenders in all facets of real estate loans from the loan commitment phase through document negotiation and closing. Steve's clients include banks, life insurance companies, and conduit/securitization lenders. Steve also represents borrowers in real estate financing transactions, including acquisition and refinancing, construction loans, and mezzanine financing.

James Nearon
Senior Director, Originations, New York Life Real Estate Investors
James Nearon is a Director with New York Life Real Estate Investors where he heads up originations in the Western Region for their structured lending platform (bridge, construction, high yield).  Prior to joining New York Life, James was at PCCP where his responsibilities included equity acquisitions, debt originations, structuring, negotiations, dispositions, asset management and workouts.  James received an M.B.A from Yale University, a B.A. from Brigham Young University and is a CFA charterholder.


Scott Swisher
Managing Director, ACORE Capital
Scott Swisher is a Managing Director at ACORE Capital in the San Francisco office, responsible for, originating, structuring, underwriting and closing commercial real estate financing opportunities and for managing corporate operations initiatives. Mr. Swisher has more than 15 years of experience in the commercial real estate business, having closed over $10 billion in loans across all product types. Before joining ACORE, Mr. Swisher was a Vice President on the Credit and Underwriting Team at Starwood Property Trust (STWD) for over four years where he managed the San Francisco based team. Prior to STWD, Mr. Swisher was an Associate Vice President at George Smith Partners in Los Angeles, CA, responsible for the acquisition, refinancing, and development of commercial real estate assets nationwide. Mr. Swisher holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Business and a Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University. He is also a licensed California Real Estate broker.
