NAIOP at the National Level

NAIOP is a dynamic network of 53 chapters representing 20,000+ real estate members across the United States and Canada.

For 45+ years, NAIOP has represented the interests of developers, owners, investors, managers, brokers, attorneys, architects, lenders, contractors and public officials in protecting and shaping the commercial real estate industry.

NAIOP at the Chapter Level

Founded in 1977, the NAIOP San Francisco Bay Area chapter encompasses members from San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo, Marin and Sonoma Counties. Of these members, there is a strong representation of owner/developers and a wide array of service providers who cover the spectrum of real estate issues. The chapter’s mission is to support the Bay Area commercial real estate industry by proactively influencing legislative policy, providing superior educational events and fostering networking opportunities.

The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter has 750+ members, making it the 8th largest NAIOP chapter in the country.

The Chapter is one of just a few NAIOP chapters to have launched a Young Professionals Group (YPG). YPG is a year-long educational program designed specifically to meet the career needs of the Chapter’s developing leaders. Each year, a group of approximately 30 real estate professionals is selected to take part in a seventy-hour course over a twelve-month period, designed to educate, develop, connect and elevate the commercial real estate industry’s emerging leaders. The program offers instruction in critical components of the real estate industry, personal and professional development coaching from MBA-level instructors, extensive networking and relationship-building activities, and guidance from leading industry executives through an intimate speaker series exclusive to YPG. YPG participants are selected on an annual basis in the spring of each year. Applicants must be 35 years of age or younger as of the beginning of the Program.

For midcareer professionals, the Chapter has developed and launched the first NAIOP Executive Development (NED) Program. Designed for midcareer professionals with approximately 10+ years of industry experience, this 6-month program assists in preparing its members to take the next steps in their commercial real estate careers by providing the opportunity for personal development and to build management, negotiation, presentation, and other essential skills.
