Introducing Becka Studer, a dynamic and purpose-driven leader whose unwavering commitment infuses every endeavor with passion and dedication. As a NAIOP SFBA board member, Becka brings a wealth of experience from her role as Senior Director of Leasing and Marketing at Phase 3 Real Estate Partners, Inc. (P3RE). Widely recognized as an innovative force, she consistently pushes the envelope across her areas of expertise, including Leasing, Marketing, Branding, and Business Development. Becka's boundless enthusiasm and strategic acumen make her a valuable addition to our esteemed board, poised to contribute significantly to our shared vision and objectives.

At Phase 3 Real Estate Partners, Inc. (P3RE), the focus is to provide premier, spec life science real estate, demonstrated by the firms thoughtfully crafted ±4.5-million-square-foot GENESIS portfolio. “Our focus is centered on delivering world class early-stage research facilities” she said, “Every facet of our portfolio is thoughtfully designed to cater to the needs of these emerging companies which differentiates us from our competitors.”

P3RE executes this strategy within the top three major biotech hubs, the Bay Area, San Diego, and Boston. P3RE prides itself in providing more than the facility itself, but rather the cultivation of long term relationships with their tenants. “We can promptly address the immediate needs of tenants while also providing a path to future growth” she said.

One of the recent projects Studer is excited about is the latest purpose-build, ground up project GENESIS-Marina, in Brisbane. This ±560,000 rsf campus has impeccable freeway exposure sitting along highway 101, has world class amenities, facilities that will support the life science ecosystem and so much more. Delivering January 2024, they will have a host of spec suites available ranging from ±13,000 – ±42,000. GENESIS K+D Marketplace will be an on-site public restaurant with micro kitchens offering a variety of food options to the tenants and nearby businesses. “GENESIS Marina is a special project that will change Sierra Point and I am honored to be a part of the team bringing this incredible development to the market.” www.genesis-marina.com

In addition to enthusiasm about P3RE’s incredible projects, Studer is deeply passionate about staying at the forefront of innovative trends in commercial real estate. This involves exploring and implementing new technologies, sustainable practices, and design concepts that enhance the value and efficiencies of the properties. She is also committed to continuous learning. “I love the dynamic nature of the industry” she said, “It requires staying informed about industry advancements, market dynamics and changes to make well-informed decisions that benefit all stakeholders.”

She also finds immense satisfaction in transforming underutilized or distressed properties into vibrant, functional life science environments. Every real estate project comes with its unique set of challenges. “Watching these spaces evolve and contribute to the local landscape is deeply fulfilling” she said. “I find joy in problem-solving and overcoming obstacles, ensuring that the end result is a successful and beneficial addition to the GENESIS portfolio community.”

Studer’s current role in NAIOP SFBA is a Board Member and the Marketing and Communications Committee Chair. She joined 2019 and immediately started to put herself in rooms with NAIOP leadership at events and volunteered where opportunities presented themselves. “I remember going to the New Member Breakfast and the room was filled with really cool, like-minded professionals in other sectors of CRE and loved the fact that I could expand my network quickly” she said. “In 2019, I was invited to join the Marketing and Communications Committee and was honored when I was asked be the Chair in 2022.”

One of the aspects about NAIOP that Studer values most is its emphasis on collaborative networking. “The opportunity to expand my network within various commercial real estate (CRE) sectors at a hyper-local level is invaluable” she said. She also loves having the opportunity to contribute to building NAIOP's legacy. “The Chapter has an extremely rich history which I deeply respect” noted Studer. “As a board member I will have the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing legacy, leaving a positive impact on future generations of CRE professionals.”

In terms of advice to young professionals, Studer recommends proactive networking in organizations for career expansion and participation in groups like NAIOP to build meaningful connections with industry professionals. “Actively pursuing mentorship opportunities within these organizations and establishing relationships with experienced professionals who can guide you through the complexities of commercial real estate will accelerate your learning curve.”

Studer is originally from Southern California where she attended California State University of San Marcos and earned Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Business. She moved to the Bay Area in 2015 to help establish and grow the GENESIS portfolio with P3RE.

On the personal front, Studer lives in Orinda. She is recently married to her amazing husband Brent Ilgen and sweetly loved daily by her mini-golden doodle, Mr. Waffles. She is passionate about exploring new places and experiencing diverse cultures. “Travel is a source of inspiration for me” she said, “It fuels my curiosity and broadens my perspective, enriching both my personal and professional life.”
